Den Äther Braten
Drawing on personal motifs and historicising visual worlds, Max Grote explores questions of self-presentation, power and personal life as an open-ended, ever-evolving process. In his solo exhibition at NADAN Berlin, he presents new paintings that oscillate between deliberately crafted, at times absurd pathos, exaggeration and art-historical references. A central aspect of this is the reinterpretation of sacred pictorial themes.
Max Grote (b. 2003, Berlin) lives and works in Hamburg. He is studying painting at the University of Fine Arts Hamburg in Jorinde Voigt’s class. Solo exhibitions include at Kunstraum Potsdam in 2026 and at Schindler LAB, Potsdam, in 2024. Group exhibitions include ‘Faces of Mind’ at HAUS KUNST MITTE, Berlin, and ‘Against the Grain – Generation Z in Art’ at Sacrow Castle, 2024.
